I collect quotes, and I just ran into this one that I couldn't wait to share with you:
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown out on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy." – George Bernard Shaw
Wow. Just reading that makes my blood pump faster and makes me want to stop complaining and be a better person!
We talk a lot in my book and my online program about having a "WHY" that motivates you to accomplish your organizing goals. This quote speaks of being used for a mighty purpose. What is your mighty purpose? What sets you on fire and makes you feel like a force of Nature?
Whatever your answers are, I know that piles of paper, cluttered closets, and gluttonous garages are not going to stand in your way, RIGHT? I love talking about organizing, but isn't it really a means to an end? If you were more organized, wouldn't you be doing something toward that mighty purpose? I want to push you to think about what would really energize you in a spirit of growth and contribution, and get you to see that all of this excess stuff is just holding you back from that.
Woohoo, let's bust through it!
