Two days with a home-clutter expert and a $1,000 Container Store gift card? Sounds like homeowner nirvana.

Dana Hamilton of Highland Village was the lucky winner of Good Housekeeping magazine’s “Put Your House on a Clutter Diet” sweepstakes.

Entering the contest with a prize-winning poem was a no-brainer for Hamilton, a mom of two young children who never had the time or energy to tackle mounds of paperwork and unorganized chaos. The thought of organizing the study and garage was overwhelming.

“My problem is that I’m a perfectionist,” she says. “If I can’t do it exactly the way I want to do it, then I say, ‘OK, I can’t do it.’ ”

Hamilton’s dilemma is common, says Clutter Diet founder Lorie Marrero, who recently spent 31 hours over two days helping Hamilton get back on track. They tackled the study and garage – with husband Ryan’s help – and also organized some smaller areas, including the medicine cabinet and master closet.
